rhapidophyllum_hystrix.jpg (18474 bytes) November 2000 - This photo is a small first year needle palm seedling.  It was germinated in spring and planted in late June.  It's located only a few inches off a south facing wall.
rhapidophyllum_hystrix_2001_oct1.jpg (19532 bytes) October 1, 2001 - Here's the same seedling a year later.  It was burnt to the ground the winter before.  As you can see, it only grew one leaf this year.
rhapidophyllum_hystrix_2002_dec8r.jpg (72031 bytes) December 8, 2002 - Here's the same seedlings one year later.  It's now grown 3 full growing seasons (LOL).  Boy this palm is a fast grower in our climate!
rhapidophyllum_hystrix_2003_mar8r.jpg (70930 bytes) March 8, 2003 - Here's the same plant after the brutal winter of 2002-2003 where many plants died.  All our banana, calla, albizia, and kniphofia plants did not return after this winter.  This seedling did fine.  WOW.
rhapidophyllum_hystrix_2003_jun20r.jpg (62738 bytes) June 20, 2003 - Here's another needle palm we just planted.  It was containerized for the past 2 growing seasons.
