hereroa_teretifolia-2.jpg (33083 bytes) December 2, 2000 - here's some of the plants as of December 2,  2000.  The plants appear to be highly damaged already.  They have seen 12F, 12F, and 14F temperatures so far in the winter.  We observed no damage after the first night down to 19F.
hereroa_teretifolia-3.jpg (46443 bytes) December 23, 2000 - here's the status a few weeks later, notice how the plant are near death, or at least appear that way.  Low temperature without snow cover has been 5F so far this winter.  They all ended up dead.
hereroa_teretifolia_2002_june.jpg (13512 bytes) June 2002 - here's a second plant which was kept in a greenhouse when the other plants above were killed by winter cold.  This plant was planted out in the spring of 2001 and survived the winter of 2001-2002 (warmest on record at Providence, so what does that say??).  It was also protected by moisture with a poly roof during the winter.  Here it is flowering in May.  The low temp it survived was about 12F.
hereroa_teretifolia_2002_sept7.jpg (54948 bytes) September 7, 2002 - here's the same plant later in the year.
August 8, 2003 - the plant died from the winter cold and never returned from the roots.
