of plants tested: 1 Size of plant tested: 1st year seedling which was 4" tall by November 2000. Soil texture: sandy loam and covered with 2" pine bark mulch. When planted: the seedling were planted in the ground in July 2000. Winter protection: None. Microclimate: it was planted in an average microclimate. Temperature: refer to 2000-2001 winter on this chart Findings: the plant died, and did not resprout from the roots. |

December 2, 2000 - This photo shows damage to all the leaves on December 2, 2000 after nights down to 12F, 12F, and 14F. Damage is pretty bad already when compared to some other species. No burn was observed after a 19F night. |
