Eucalyptus cinerea 

Quantity of plants tested: 12
Size of plant tested: 1st year seedlings which were 5" to 10" tall by November 2000.
Soil texture: sandy loam and covered with 2" pine bark mulch.
When planted: the seedling were planted in the ground in July 2000.
Winter protection: None.
Microclimate: Not planted in a warm microclimate, but not planted in a cold microclimate either.
Temperature: refer to 2000-2001 winter on this chart
Findings: all the plants died, none resprouted from the roots.
eucalyptus_cinerea_2000_dec2.jpg (9806 bytes) December 2, 2000 - This photo shows (look close) damage to the smallest leaves on December 2, 2000 after nights down to 12F, 12F, and 14F.  Damage is really not that bad yet.
eucalyptus_cinerea_2000_dec23.jpg (15575 bytes) December 23, 2000 - This photo shows two small plants several weeks later.  Please note December was quite cold with many days not exceeding 32F for high temperatures.  Low to date is still 5F.  The larger leaves may be damaged already, although damage does not appear in the photo that well.
