Delosperma sp. "prostrate form"

Quantity of plants tested: 1 plant
Size of plant tested: smaller 2"-3" seedling
Soil texture: planted in a loamy sand covered with granite peastone.
When planted: the plant was planted in the ground in August 2001.
Winter protection: plastic roof covered plant the entire winter, sides were open.
Microclimate: it was planted in a warm microclimate, approximately 2-3 feet off a south facing wall.
Temperature: refer to 2001-2002 winter on this chart
Findings: the plant did fine with no damage.  Low temp was 12F.
delosperma_sp_prostrateform_2001_dec1.jpg (21233 bytes) December 1, 2001 - The plant was a slow grower.  Seed was started in May 2001.  Leaves are quite large when compared to other z6 Delosperma.
delosperma_sp_prostrateform_2002_june.jpg (59019 bytes) June 2002 - here's the plant in June 2002.  The plant is continuing to flower into September.
  August 8, 2003 - the plant died from the winter cold and never re-grew from the roots.
