Delosperma nubigenum

Quantity of plants tested: 1 plant
Size of plant tested: small unrooted cutting
Soil texture: planted in a loamy sand covered with granite peastone.
When planted: the plant was planted in the ground in late April 2001.
Winter protection: plastic roof covered plant the entire winter, sides were open
Microclimate: they were planted in a warm microclimate, approximately 3-4 feet off a south facing wall.
Temperature: refer to 2001-2002 winter on this chart
Findings: the plant did fine with no damage
delosperma_nubigenum_2001_aug14.JPG (156442 bytes) August 14, 2001 - The plant is an extremely fast grower.  It was cut back already to slow growth.  It's a great ground cover.
delosperma_nubigenum_2002_jan27.jpg (41944 bytes) January 27, 2002 - the color of the leaves turn deep purple in winter.  The leaves also shrink in size.
delosperma_nubigenum_2002_may.jpg (91717 bytes) May 2002 - here's the same plant in May.  Flowers in spring then stops.  No flowering in summer or fall.
