Delosperma lydenburgense

Quantity of plants tested: 4 different seedlings
Size of plant tested: 1ft diameter mound or even larger.
Soil texture: planted in a loamy sand covered with granite peastone.
When planted: the plants were planted in the ground in June 2000.
Winter protection: none
Microclimate: they were planted in a warm microclimate, approximately 3-4 feet off a south facing wall.
Temperature: refer to 2000-2001 winter on this chart
Findings: the plants died, not very hardy here in Rhode Island.

delosperma_lydenburgense-3.jpg (68826 bytes) November 27, 2000 - here's the dead plant. Low temperatures so far have been 12F, 14F, and 14F.  No damage was observed after the first night to 19F.
