Size of plant tested: small plant about 15" in height.
Soil texture: sandy loam covered with standard 1"-2" deep pine bark mulch.
When planted: the plant was planted in the ground in May 2001.
Winter protection: non
Microclimate: warm to average microclimate, 6 feet off east facing wall next to 6ft fence blocking north winds.
Temperature: refer to 2001-2002 winter on this chart
Findings: the plant survived with no damage, low temperature at this microclimate was about 8F probably.
