Soil texture: sandy loam covered with 1"-2" mulch.
When planted: the plant was planted in the ground in 1995.
Winter protection: none
Microclimate: cool microclimate.
Temperature: refer to 1995-2003 winters on this chart
Findings: the plant survived until the 2002-2003 cold winter when it died.  There were 2 other mature trees in our neighborhood, one other died also.
