Agave victoriae reginae

Quantity of plants tested: 1
Size of plant tested: small plant about 4"-5" in diameter.
Soil texture: sandy loam covered with granite peastone.
When planted: the plant was planted in the ground in August 2001.
Winter protection: poly roof from October through mid March.
Microclimate: warm microclimate, less than 1 foot off a south facing wall.
Temperature: refer to 2001-2002 winters on this chart
Findings: the plant survived with little to no damage, low temperature at this microclimate was about 14F probably, so not much of a test yet.

agave_victoriae_reginae_2003_mar8r.jpg (71646 bytes) March 8, 2003 - here's same plant in early March.  Low temperature at this plant was -0.5F or so.  It is showing heavy damage already.

It died a few weeks later.
