Size of plant tested: smaller plant, 4" pot size.
Soil texture: sandy loam
When planted: the plant was planted in soil in August 1999.
Winter protection: it was under a plastic tarp from December -March.
Microclimate: warm microclimate, about 3 ft from south facing wall.
Temperature: refer to 1999-2000 winter on this chart
Findings: the plant died. It died very early in the winter too. We estimate it's hardiness on the east coast to 10F or so, perhaps a little colder during brief cold spells.
